Our children enjoyed a very special hands-on learning experience through our Henny Penny program. From watching eggs hatch into chicks to helping care for them each day, the children showed incredible curiosity, responsibility, and kindness π
Taking turns feeding, observing, and gently handling the chicks (along with caring for our turtle and fish) supported their understanding of life cycles while encouraging empathy and respect for living things.
It was wonderful to see all age groups, from babies to kinders, engage so thoughtfullyβsharing in the excitement, discovery, and plenty of cuddles along the way π₯β¨
A truly meaningful experience that brought learning to life!
Weβre thrilled to be introducing Henny Penny at Kingston Kids! π±β¨
Till next Thursday the 2nd of April, our children will have the incredible opportunity to watch real eggs hatch into adorable baby chicks right before their eyes. This hands-on experience supports curiosity, responsibility, and a deeper understanding of the life cycle in a fun and meaningful way. π₯π
Through this program, children will: πΌ Learn about growth and change πΌ Develop empathy and care for living things πΌ Engage in observation and discovery πΌ Build confidence through real-life experiences
We canβt wait to share this special journey with our families and watch the childrenβs excitement grow each day! Stay tuned for updates (and plenty of cute chick photos πΈπ£). ... See MoreSee Less
Last week, we celebrated Harmony Week β a time to recognise and embrace the rich cultural diversity that makes our community and centre so special. At Kingston Kids, we believe that everyone belongs, and we are proud to create an environment where children learn to respect, include, and celebrate one another.
Throughout the week, the children explored different cultures through music, art, stories, and meaningful conversations about kindness and acceptance. It was a beautiful opportunity for them to learn that while we may come from different backgrounds, we all share the same values of friendship, respect, and belonging.
Our Nursery children engaged in a Rainbow pasting experience, our Toddlers made their own portraits, the Pre Kinder children played the Philippino game of Tumbapatis ( a version of baseball) and our Kinders made friendship bracelets to share with each other.
We encouraged our families to join in by sharing their cultural traditions and we had one of our families, Bettina, join us for Morning Circle were she shared information about Hungary! We completed this by wearing orange (the colour of Harmony Week).
π¦βΊοΈHEALTHY HAROLD VISIT π¦βΊοΈ This week the children got a visit from Healthy Harold, from LifeEd Vic. Harold the Giraffe, came with Bec, who spent some time talking about the topic of βBig Feelingsβ. Covering all bases, they spoke about what is happy, sad, angry, shy, surprised etc. and did some activities to help combat any feelings we may not be able to tackle by ourselves or express. Hereβs some take aways from the session: βIf youβre upset, your teacher can help youβ- Finn. βBe nice, be calm, be kind- no making people feel sad.β - Harrison βWe donβt make people upset on purposeβ- Henry The children also told Bec and Harold that they βalready knowβ about Big Feelings. This is true, as the children this week also created their own Kinder Room Agreement, which spoke about how to be a good friend and learner while at Kingston Kids. We look forward to continuing to support and nurture our own feelings and guiding our friends each day at the centre, for positive, kind and caring relationships at Kingston Kids- thanks to the help of Harold! π¦π ... Role modelled language and interactions come in many forms. Throughout each day the educators breaks are discussed and planned out with each other, but today Harrison and Henry decided that they would do our breaks list for us!
βWhat time is my tea break Harrison?β Sarah asked
βItβs at 10:30!β said Harrison
βGreat, And are you covering my lunch break today Henry?β Sarah asked
βYes I am. Your name is here, your break is at 20β Henry replied.
βWonderful! I will go and have my lunch and a coffeeβ Sarah said
βYes you can, my Mummy has coffee tooβ Henry said excitedly
It just goes to show just how much the children hear and pick up on. Positive communication is key!

When we say our educators are multi-talented, we mean it!
